We walked through the sliding doors and were immediately engulfed in a golden utopia. The W Bogota is located at an elevation of ~8,000 ft, but it is the beautiful decor and kind staff that will take your breath away.
We were welcomed by the hospitable staff and checked in swiftly, even getting upgraded to an incredible room that overlooked the city and mountains of Bogota…score!
THE ROOMS
The rooms at the W Bogota present an amalgam of elegance and sensuality. The rooms effortlessly incorporate one of Colombia’s main precious metals and a key element in Colombian culture, gold.
The beds…the beds…the beds! Did I mention, the beds? If Bogota weren’t such an amazing city that needed to be explored, then I would have spent my entire time in that heavenly cloud of comfort. The mattress is firm, yet welcoming and the pillows are heavenly, making for an incredible nights sleep.
The W Bogota makes the most of its space by surrounding the room in a sheer white fabric to separate living quarters. The bathrooms were equipped with his & hers sinks as well as a rain shower. Note: The bathrooms are meant to be extremely sexy with sheer shower doors as well as bathroom doors. If you’ve just started dating, you may want to familiarize yourself with the lobby bathrooms.
THE SERVICE
The W Bogota may have a global name, but they pay extra attention to local flavor. Jonathan at the concierge desk was particularly accommodating, giving us “W Insider Tips” and helping us arrange dinner reservations at the cities hottest restaurants as well as local favorites.
THE RESTAURANTS
The Market Kitchen delivers delicious food all day from Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten. This tasteful, yet unpretentious dining experience is perfect at all hours of the day. Try the Crispy sushi, black pepper octopus, or short rib…mmm!
THE BARS
The W does not disappoint when it comes to entertainment.
W Lounge: This is the place to see and be seen in Bogota. As the lights go down at 6 pm, the crowd heats up. Make sure to order the Ginger Margarita (spicy) or the Lulo Mojito (sweet). No one says you can’t order both. This is the W after all, and your vices are encouraged. Insider tip – check out the graffiti on the wall from local graffiti artists, Vertigo Graffiti.
Au Room: If you want to dance into the wee hours of the morning to Bogota’s hottest DJ’s, then Au Room is the place for you. You may need a disco nap as it opens at 10 pm, but doesn’t get going until after 12 pm. We swear by it and our hips don’t lie.
FITNESS
Yes, you may be at 8,000 feet of elevation, but that is no excuse for skipping the gym! Luckily, The W Bogota has a state of the art workout facility including a yoga room, free weights, cardio equipment, kettlebells, and even battle ropes. Be still my heart, be still!
SPA
If your feet are tired from walking the streets of the Candelaria, tuck into the Away Spa to recharge and revitalize. Choose from a bevy of facials, body and nail, or my personal favorite – massages.
If you don’t have time to make it to the spa, at least indulge yourself in the spa pool, an indoor heated hideaway with soothing musical sounds and romantic mood lighting.
OK, Vickie and I have to go there! That appears to be a place we would really, really LOVE!
I have not researched Bogota before, but now I want to go just to stay at the W. Wonderful review!
Looks like the W has #1 service everywhere in the world.
