From the rugged and romantic Oregon coast to the high desert of Bend, there are a plethora of amazing places to visit on an Oregon Road Trip. Whether you want to spend one week or one month, there are so many beautiful destinations and scenic drives in Oregon. Most of these destinations are within three hours or less so you’ll get to maximize the time in your destination and not have to worry about long, laborious drives. Here are our favorite places to stop on an Oregon road trip!

Portland:

Portland is the capital of cool…and I feel like I just got infinitely less cool by saying that out loud. While visiting Portland, it’s all about the food and beverage! You should grab a chai latte and a dozen donuts at Pip’s Doughnuts, a coffee at famed Stumptown Roasters, beers at Upright and Threshold, and dine at Toro Bravo and Nong’s Khao Man Gai.\

Campground / RV Park: Roamers Rest RV Park (what a fitting name, right?!) It’s located about 20 minutes outside of the city! Full hook-ups.

Willamette Valley:

Willamette Valley is one of our favorite wine countries in the entire world. Specializing in Pinot Noirs, this lush vino valley is located less than an hour away from Portland. You can easily take a (designated driver led) day trip or park yourselves in the valley for a few days. No matter what, make sure you visit Domaine Serene for a tasting and oysters. Tip: Call ahead to order your oysters ahead of time because they sell out!

Campground / RV Park: If you can spring for it, ditch your wheels for a few nights and indulge at the Allison Inn & Spa.

Pacific City:

Pacific City is the lesser known southern sister of Cannon Beach. With a sprawling beach, a Haystack Rock of its own, and a dramatic sand dune to the north, we think that Pacific City is the most picturesque coastal city in Oregon. We recommend grabbing coffees at Stimulus Coffee + Bakery, beers and pizza at Pelican Brewing Company, and trying your hand at a sand dune workout at Cape Kiwanda! You won’t want to miss the incredible sunsets either 🙂

Tip: On your way to Pacific City, stop at Tillamook Creamery in Tillamook for the world-famous cheeses and ice cream!

Campground / RV Park: Hart’s Camp. It’s right across the street from the beach! Full hook-ups.

Cannon Beach:

Cannon Beach is the most iconic beach in all of Oregon and it is home to the famed Haystack Rock. While Cannon Beach is a popular beach town, it’s very low key. Enjoy adventuring through Ecola State Park, a visit to Sleepy Monk Coffee Roasters, and beautiful sunsets on the beach.

Campground / RV Park: RV Resort at Cannon Beach. It’s within walking distance to the beach! Full hook-ups.

Bend

Located on the Deschutes River and home to the famed Deschutes Brewery, Bend Oregon is known as “Beer Town USA!” While it’s a beer lovers haven, Bend is also famous for its multitude of outdoor adventures. We recommend mountain biking or hiking Tumalo Falls to Tumalo Creek Trail, rock climbing on the famous Smith Rock in Smith Rock State Park with Smith Rock Climbing School, and dining at Spork in Bend.

Campground / RV Park: Bureau of Land Management (Free Camping), Coordinates: 44.052061, -121.401747

Campground / RV Park: Skull Hollow Campground, Smith Rock

Crater Lake

Crater Lake National Park is nestled in the Cascade Mountains in Southern Oregon. Its cobalt blue color is one of the most unique National Park destinations in the United States. This all year round destination is great for skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and hiking and boating in the summer months.

Crater Lake can see snow…even in June!

Mount Hood & The Columbia River Gorge

Known as an active stratovolcano and ski destination, The Mount Hood region has year-round action and adventure. In the warmer months, head out on hikes on the Old Salmon River Trail, Zigzag Canyon, or McNeil Point Trial. Mt. Hood towers at over 11,000 ft. of elevation and has six ski areas so it’s a great destination for snow bunnies!

Campground / RV Park: Tilly Jane Campground, Nottingham Campground, Cloud Cap Saddle Campground
