Tranquility washed over us as we boarded the yacht in the crystal clear waters of The Maldives. Our destination: Six Senses Laamu, the ultimate Maldives vacation destination. As we entered the hotel yacht, we were invited to remove our shoes and told that Six Senses Laamu was a barefoot island. As we removed our shoes, we removed all stress from the outside world and immersed ourselves in the idyllic oasis of Six Senses.
The Service
With its dozens of overwater bungalows located on its own private island, Six Senses Laamu is the romantic escape you’ve been waiting for. Set your worries aside and surrender to the epic service at Six Senses. From booking to check-in, transportation to concierge, every piece of our holiday was performed with 5-star service. The staff at Six Senses knew our every want and need before we even asked. They remembered our favorite dishes and drinks, greeted us by name, and were always available when needed.
We were assigned a GEM (Guest Experience Maker), Haanif, our own personal guide to the resort that we could ring at any moment. Haanif helped us arrange reservations, transportation, and fun activities for our stay, always with a smile on his face. He may have been our GEM for the week, but he left as our friend.
Six Senses set the bar for service, with a full-staff greeting upon arrival and farewell upon departure, every person made the effort to know us on a personal level. As guests, we never received, “no,” as an answer. If a staff member didn’t know the answer, they found the answer, no questions asked. Every single person, from the bar staff to watersports, GEM’s to management, was always willing to help with a smile on his or her face.
The Rooms
We spent my birthday at Six Senses, ringing in my new year in the best way possible. An overwater bungalow is the ultimate decadent bucket list luxury. With endless options from lagoon overwater bungalows to beach overwater bungalows and the special Laamu bungalows, you have your pick when it comes to luxurious rooms. These two-tiered beauties redefine luxury.
Our room had a full canopy bed complete with decadent pillows and luxurious sheets. The deck opened up to a deck out of a movie set, complete with a glass-bottomed dining table, sun lounge bed, hammocks, and two staircases that led into the alluring Indian Ocean.
Now usually I don’t write about bathrooms as they are pretty cookie cutter, but the Six Senses Laamu bathrooms were in a league of their own. In front of the toilet, there was a glass-bottomed cutout so that you could look at the sea while you are…ahem…doing your business. You won’t need the Sunday Times in the Six Senses’ toilets.
The bathing area of our villa had a multi-head rain shower, a staircase down to the ocean, and a glass-bottomed bathtub that overlooked the ocean. Grab a book, run a hot tub, and immerse yourself in tranquility in the rooms (and bathrooms!) at Six Senses.
The Food
Everything about Six Senses Laamu is five-star and that includes their food. Choose from Zen, Six Senses’ in-house Japanese restaurant. If you’re in the mood for international cuisine, dine at Longitude where cosmopolitan delicacies are served. For something a little more intimate, dine at the wine cellar where their in-house sommelier concocts a wine and food sensory experience. If you’re craving something a little more spicy, head to Leaf, where you can dine on foods from their organic garden.
As additions, you can dine on your own private sandbar or attend a beach BBQ. The staff is constantly changing the schedule of gastronomic options so your taste buds never tire.
My favorite food at Six Senses was of course their free ice cream bar! Choose from over 42 flavors freshly created on site.
The Amenities
Water sports – The water-sports at Six Senses are completely complimentary. Choose from stand up paddleboarding, kayaking, surfing, windsurfing, or sailing a catamaran.
The Spa – The Six Senses Spa is daringly decadent. Pamper yourself with a signature hot stone massage or Six Senses facials.
The Gym – With a beachfront location, the gym at Six Senses offers everything you need. Choose from fitness classes or create your own routine with one of their various cardiovascular machines or weightlifting equipment.
Yoga – Six Senses has a fantastic in-house yoga instructor, Emily, who teaches classes overlooking the Indian Ocean every single day. For a more personalized experience, book a private class with Emily and try aerial yoga followed by a massage!
The Pool – The infinity pool bar, named Sip Sip, is the perfect place to relax and meet fellow guests. Lounge on a day bed and take in views of the infinity pool and Indian Ocean in front of your very eyes.
Scuba Diving – Six Senses Laamu has its own dive center and house reef. I dove for the first time at Six Senses and their team was absolutely fantastic. Jörg, the dive master, was extremely knowledgeable and guided me through the underwater world that surrounds Six Senses Laamu.
Sustainability
Six Senses is “committed to reducing the ecological and carbon footprint” in order to preserve these beautiful islands. Six Senses puts nature first, including an on-island desalination plant.
Overall
If we could name the top hotel we’ve stayed at in the entire world, it would be Six Senses Laamu hands down. Six Senses Laamu was the best Maldives vacation we could have asked for. We highly recommend splurging on an overwater bungalow because there is absolutely nothing better than waking up surrounded by the sea. From the moment we stepped onto the docks of this idyllic island, we were greeted with the absolute best service we’ve ever experienced. We cannot recommend Six Senses Laamu enough and we look forward to returning in the future!

I’m incredibly amazed together with your creating abilities in addition to using the design on your own blog site. Is it a compensated concept or have you personalize it your self? In either case keep up to date the great high quality creating, it’s uncommon to find out an excellent weblog such as this a single today.
Guide Maldives,
Thanks for the feedback and question. Can you elaborate a little more? I’m not clear on what you’re asking. The website and design was made by personalizing a template.
Thanks again and keep commenting!
