When it came time to design a nursery for our baby girl, we wanted a nursery that was natural, clean, and modern with a touch of femininity. Of course, as the original “travel couple,” we wanted to incorporate our love of exploration and travel into the room with exploratory touches and decor. We dedicated a lot of research, heart, soul, and sweat into designing and bringing this baby girl nursery to life because it’s for the little babe we love the most: our daughter.
Map of the World Wallpaper
As travelers, we wanted to bring a world of wonder into our nursery and what better way than a map? We found this adorable stick-on wallpaper map on Etsy that has animal artwork in the corresponding countries of origin. The map is not only beautiful, but educational as it will teach our baby where all the animals in the world are found. We opted for the light pink shade to add a feminine touch.
Nestig Wave Crib
We wanted a minimalistic crib that could grow with our baby. The Nestig Wave Crib easily transforms from a mini crib to a crib to a toddler bed. The Wave Crib comes in white and natural and we opted for the natural look.
Organic Crib Mattress
While the Nestig Wave Crib comes with a mattress, we opted for the upgraded Naturepedic Organic Breathable Full Crib Mattress to eliminate potential irritants and toxins. The Naturepedic Organic Breathable mattress has a patented waterproof coating and has breathable fabric for better air circulation.

Glider Chair
My main focus for a glider in our girl nursery was comfort and practicality over aesthetics, however this Babyletto Kiwi Glider checked off all of the boxes! I wanted a reclining glider so I could truly put my feet up at any time while feeding my baby, but I was concerned about the difficulty with manual recliners while holding a baby. I pictured myself in the middle of the night exhausted and attempting to peacefully squeeze the recliner in with my hamstrings while trying not to disturb a sleeping baby and I just didn’t see how that was a simple solution. The Babyletto is completely electric powered with a push button, super comfortable, and it looks modern and chic in her nursery. It was also hundreds of dollars less than comparable items at Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn.
Dresser
Since Nestig doesn’t manufacture nursery furniture outside of cribs, we had to search for other furniture that would match the natural wood color of the Wave Crib. We found the Dadada Austin 5-drawer dresser from Modern Nursery. This 5-drawer dresser came preassembled (thank the LAWD) and we added a changing table on top.
Area Rugs
Because we have hardwood floors, I wanted to find an area rug that would add a fun, whimsical vibe to the nursery. These Lorena Canals pom pom rugs from Modern Nursery add an understated pop of color plus the layering adds a chic look to the room. These rugs are also machine washable and small enough to pop in the wash without any issues.
Bookcase
We’ve always been big proponents of having hard copy books in the house and now that we’re welcoming a baby, it’s more important than ever. Studies show that a presence of a home library benefits children academically and with vocabulary development. We wanted to go for the same natural wood / white look so we opted for this Mod bookcase from Houzz.

Blackout Shades
It was extremely important to us to have blackout shades for our baby to help with sleep training. We opted for Smith & Noble blackout shades in a light pink hue that matched perfectly with the wallpaper map.
